Role of Art and What It Gives Us
There is a saying that the art is a window to our souls. Through it, we express ourselves but also could look into someone else’s soul.
Usually through their works, artists want to express their feelings, show how they perceive the surrounding world, speak about dilemmas they face – as individuals or all of us – as a society. When we try to ‘delve into’ artist’s message, we could better connect with problems he or she poses. This way, the art gives meaning to the world around us and helps us better understand as ourselves as well as others.
In art, there is no right or wrong, true or false. It is something very subjective and entirely depends on person’s preferences and tastes. Everybody finds their own answers and searches for their own truth. That is why one artwork speaks to each of us in a different way, has a different meaning and everybody can find their own ‘the most important message’, based on their individual background and experience.
Of course, there are people with enormous talents but far less of us can draw, sing or dance well. However, each one has imagination which he or she can unlock and use – in their work, but also in their daily life.
When we learn how to ‘look at’ artworks and ‘decode’ hidden messages in them, we could ‘translate’ the work for ourselves and see ‘our own picture’ – the one which we could tell in symbols, forms, shapes and colours. The one which reflects our inner world and those things which are really important for us. Art appreciation helps us ‘open up’ our senses, teaches us how to consider others’ perspectives and viewpoints and how to be more creative. It also shows us that there is more than one way to see the world and processes around us.
In this way, we could unlock our creative and analytical thinking and develop a critical viewpoint to things which are incompatible at first sight. And see (and experience) new and unexpected links between everyday tasks.
But also, stop, recharge and go ahead – with new strength and new ideas.
Art Inspired Education helps us feel and live all these things. And far more.
